I've had these for a few years and am satisfied with them. They won't really work without the Sub.

I'd really like to know how to get at the 2 'pot's' because they are starting to sound scratchy.

Very dusty.

Thanks for this conversation we have the same thing going on. 2 speakers with no additional wires, except one speaker has a 3.5mm jack and one of those metal circle like plugs that look like the old input plugs. We were wondering if we could just hook up the speakers to the computer without the subwoofer as well. Appreciate the conversation.

Grab the little "pod" with the volume and bass pots and slide it forward. It should pop off.

Spray pots. I do this once a year. Easy fix.

Looking at the manual, there does not appear to be any way to connect the satellites without the subwoofer. Klipsch did sell a 2.0 version (no subwoofer) and they come up pretty regularly on eBay, which is where I picked up the pair I have. One speaker is plugged into the headset jack on my iMac, and the second speaker plugs in to the first, which also plugs into power. Sure beats the built-in iMac speakers, has a bass control, volume control, and mic and headset jacks on the front.
