The Dude
I have a Monoprice Hybrid that is a tube pre with ss power section. The pre amp tunes are 6n2-j and 6P1, 2 of each. Not sure how they are configured and can't seem to get Monoprice to give me a schematic. Anyway, is it worth rolling some tubes and if so, does anyone know what I can replace these tubes with? GriffinFL
There's definitely a ceiling, being that those are just preamp tubes, and the power stage is SS. I don't know that I'd invest that much effort in tube rolling in this situation.
MeloManiac
I had a cheap hybrid Amp like that, still have it, but no longer in use. I upgraded the preamp tubes but I couldn't hear much difference. Then one of the original tubes broke down just after a couple of weeks of use, so I was glad I had the upgrades lying in my drawer. Imho they are using really cheap tubes in these cheap hybrid amps, really worth a couple of cents...., so upgrading is worth it, because if a tube breaks down it could damage the little Amp. At least you'll have that piece of mind. But don't expect much sound quality improvement. https://m.aliexpress.com/i/32568696700.html Edited March 25, 2021 by MeloManiac
Marvel
The 6P1 is the Chinese equivalent of the Russian 6P1P and probably better made.
