W27
You can save quite a bit on CL if you like them https://newjersey.craigslist.org/ele/d/mountain-lakes-klipsch-la-scala-speakers/7301378405.html
ricktate
I dont think they were stained. Looks factory stain just like mine did. I would just put some screws in the side panels and counter sink them then veneer them. That will stop the flex of the side panels I know cause I did it. CLUBSTA
Would the casters damage the speakers at all?

OO1
you can remove the casters , that are screwed into the bottom woofer door panel --the panel can be replaced --or the holes can be filled in with glue or wood filler ---either way , you can add 4 small round feet or , a riser base to protect the bottom panel - the LS II and LS5 incorporate a 2 inch riser base , gone are the days of the LS1 with Lascala speakers barely scraping the floor with the bottom panel-

First, they are no longer coupled to the floor, reducing bass response. Second, IMO, the look is cheap and unattractive. Why would you want to create more work by having to replace the woofer door/filling in holes with glue or wood filler? That makes no sense. Furniture floor sliders work well, as does a decent sized hand truck if you absolutely need to move them a modest distance.
OO1
the LS II and LS5 riser of 2 inches incorporates feet to protect it from scraping , one can barely see the feet at all corners - these speakers have a better bass response than the older series that were coupled to the floor -
