Bubo
Mt 2 year old version of the previous model died from failed Flash memory Fortunately, I had purchased a 2 year warranty from Best Buy, 3 weeks later and $150 I brought the current model home. New it's $350. I had been streaming TV Series and Movies on an 8 year old Dell Laptop while the old one was in the shop. and upscaling using the HDMI interfaces on my Pioneer Elite Receiver same vintage approx 8 years. My Panasonic Plasma is limited to 1080, so I can't comment on 4k. No built in upscaler or internet connection. The SONY does everything well, that I have tested, which is not everything. The upscaling on older 480 TV series Star trek Deep Space 9 can be very impressive in well lit scenes, for some reason low light the upscaler seems to drop back losing the high res. The colors and image seem better than that of the Receiver, may be true for any newer upscale chips vs older tech. A stand alone Blu-ray drive for the laptop was approx $200 on Tiger direct also a burner which has some attraction. I may buy one, but it would be for backing up to disks. If you have a lot of Blu-ray discs you want to watch in 4K, this may be worth a look. As far as streaming it's limited to Amazon, YouTube and Netflix only. Disappointing. I still use the laptop 3 to 1 vs the Blu-ray player ...............
