The question was three times asked, "what makes the Klipsch loudspeaker sound so much better--in layman's terms?". Three times he answered: "the absence of distortion." That is the attribute that attracted me to Klipsch speakers during my early years.
pnort
PWK put the issue of intermodulation distortion in writing to me back in the early 70s as I was preparing to buy Klipschorns. Attached are two of his letters.Klipschletter1.pdfKlipschletter2.pdf I have a third letter with advise on maintaining the oiled finish on the speakers.

I think he became a little irritated the third time this question was asked, I realize this is an old post but she asked excellent questions and the same question was not repeated three times. Each question was different. Mr. K mostly chose to discuss distortion. 1. What's missing from a Klipschorn? 2. What would be the difference with a symphony between a radio and when you build the Klipschorn? 3. What sounds better about a Klipschorn? 4. What was the purpose of a center channel speaker? I would love to hear his answers to all these questions.
