Marvel
Atlanta has its bad parts, so does a smaller city like Chattanooga. Our facility is behind one of Chattanoogas large hospitals, There have been some shootouts in tje daytime. You wouldn't want to leave your car parked there overnight. I never felt in danger being out in Manila, PH at night, but I'm sure there are places there you shouldn't go, too. When my wife worked in China, she and otherfemale teachers could be outat night with little fear or apprehension.
iaRIVR
Cities have good and bad areas, I've lived in Milwaukee, Chicago, and now St Paul. There are safer places to live but I appreciate the energy of cities. I know this is a bigger topic, but as a country we very actively concentrated poverty in certain areas. Cities can make progress but few if any have the resources to address the depth of the problem. I would say it is absolutely political, but everyone will blame the party they don't support. veloceleste
Kensington section of Philly has been rough for decades. Everything is more out in the open now, less in the shadows and no doubt drug use/addiction is now at epidemic levels. On a lighter note one of my former college teammates from Kensington used to say “Kensington, where men are men and women are too!” and also “Don’t none of you guys worry, I don’t steal from nobody I know!”

One of whom lives on an Army base here in NY. Talk about private security! Also the elimination of bail for criminal offenses, including gun charges has led to a huge increase in crime. To be denied bail you almost have to shoot the judge’s mom in front of them.
JJkizak
The Communist assessment was almost correct but just a bit too early for the vast American decadence to set in. JJK 1

JJK There is a lot to learn from examining certain points of view, even if the end product is abhorrent. But fear not, there is a movement afoot to deny teaching anything that might make students think. 1

Ain't that the truth ... makes you wonder why the supporters of that movement are fearful of a person thinking for themself. I guess authoritarianism isn't so distasteful after all. Maybe Pink Floyd was right ... Welcome to the Machine.
geezin'
IMHO it's an age old problem. However it's beginning to get more attention because the victims (as shown in the OP's video) are not predominantly brown people anymore. Just my opinion I won't argue it's veracity here. Audible Nectar
Comparing NYC today against the "Son Of Sam", Times Square Deuce days is really laughable on its face. As one who has visited NYC across four decades it's not even close today to all those years ago. Lots of America can be shown in decay; a recent drive to College Station TX had me looking at stuff that was truly third world/jarring to see. What a difference an hour can make..... True fact: Law And Order (made by people who actually live in New York City) depicted more murders on the island of Manhattan than actually occurred on the island of Manhattan during the same time frame. Now THAT'S paranoid.

Why would a person want to till their mind with such horrible stuff? odd way to spend one's leisure time.
billybob
Yes there is a getting house, I will call it nearby. Ambulance there, at oft times. Swat a time or 2 a month lately looking for suspects. Sleep late some as, sirens not used much. Regulars and stealth guess. Vehicles around the clock, all type. No mufflers, 4 wheelers, golf carts, cycles, pedestrian... Other than that, a fairly nice and quiet place.

Peter P.
It's a complex problem and there is no ONE individual or group to blame. And there is no SINGLE solution. And the problem is not just in large cities, but in medium and small cities, too. 1
