I think he might be holdin' back right now... Great comment. Since version II is likely fixed an the only one available at an even lower price than the original, I would say the only fear is fear itself. Whether these guys buy one or not will not change my life & audio happiness one iota.

Unless yours will breake too:) Any way mine arrived. Didn't hand a time to unpack it. But if it will confirm it's value, I'll probably buy 3 more.

I was thoroughly impressed with mine for what it is, especially for the price. All my speakers are direct radiator with pro 15" woofers (k-48 variants) and the amp did seem to struggle a bit driving those which is really no surprise. I can see many situations where one would be perfectly happy with the PA5, hopefully yours is one of them.
JohnJ
OK @ClaudeJ1 Think I comprehend you a little more now having good KP-301s in a small environment. Now just need Danleys, love my cheapo hybrid monos with the rusky tubes!

I have owned 32 (still have some) of Tom's U.S.A. conical horn products over time.Lots of low distortion sound in small packages is his jam. He still plays bass along with his music. I hope Roy still plays drums an wears hearing protection. LOL. I just designed and built a pair of d'Appolito reflex, twin 15" Eminence speakers with the latest concentric 2-way compression drivers in a PRV horn to replace the Klipsch Forte 1, just sold to my brother for his basement system. Leaving his Cornwalls upstairs for his wife's living room. I'm bi-amping the passive woofer & mid-tweeter section with 2 PA-5's. An original one (over 2 years old, never shut off) on the high end and a PA-5 II on the bass, which of course uses 10-12 db more power than the horn portion. At 100 db/W sensitivity,, I never worry about enough power. I have finer control of relative amplitudes vs. Autoformers or resistors (it's "dial a fractional db control"). It's also called "great, useful watts" for the dolar. Always look for what it Good in a product vs. the bad REVIEWS everyone else seems to seek incessantly, which prevents them from progressing in their quest for better sound.
JohnJ
Like 4 ohm K-48s!! Guys I wasn't going for that punch line & throwing it at y'all with that well known video. It was Jack's detailed what, how & why that I thought fit in with prior comment on the right that got me here.

It seems as though the issue has been resolved in the newer version anyway so anyone looking to buy one new at this point shouldn't be concerned Whether I got lucky or not. I clearly state my exact conditions over the exact time period. Unlike the rest of the world I look for good new as part of the data as well as the bad. If it's 80% good, and 20 bad, I still consider the propensity for negativity in our society and take my chance with the good. Especially when even the "mistake" is affordable.
SWL
Ok, I've put off trying one of these little Class D chip amps long enough. It's that time of year for me to tinker with this stuff I enjoy so immensely. I'll be pairing it with some upgraded KLF-30's. It'll be compared with tubes and solid state. HH Scott 222c (tubes), Schiit Aegir/Vidar (solid state) and Crown K2 (solid state). Anybody want to talk me out of this purchase? Are you guys using a preamp with this thing? I'll be using EQ and big ol subs with it. This should be interesting. Thanks for any input.

That's when I discovered tubes sounded better than my 250 Watt monob.lock with Quasi complementary class ab. I have the first gen and the Mk II version of the PA-5, no issues with either. The latest on has gotten Zero Negative comments and it takes either RCA or balanced inputs you have to get special cables for.

Solid little amp for the price, I was genuinely surprised at how well they sound, decent soundstage and all. I'd be curious to hear your impressions. The amp fits squarely in the palm of your hand and weighs almost nothing. I think it may struggle pushing the four 12's but if you cross them over and let the subs do the heavy lifting it may just work for you?
SWL
It'll only be used for light duty. My Crown amps get used for all the *** kicking in my crib. 👍

I have 2 that were used only in the home of a Dentist for his HT. They were in mint shape and a great cash price. No tax, shipping, or Ebay Fees!!

SWL
Well, I went in a slightly different direction. Monday I should be receiving the Fosi ZA3. In the meantime, I received the Fosi P3 tube preamp and man I gotta tell ya....paired with a Schiit Aegir it sounds amazing. It's got a smooth, full sound to it. Very enjoyable to listen to. seabeef
What are people’s thoughts on powering Heresy IV’s with a Topping MX5? I’d like an all-in-one Amp and DAC for simplicity. Topping are very low distortion Class D amps paired with quality DAC‘S, however they are extremely neutral with minimal sound colouration so I’m worried will make the Heresy sound too clinical, compared to a warm vintage sound with a Class A or tube amp. Heresy IV’s will be mainly used for home theatre, plus the occasional listening session. I listen to all genres from classical and jazz all the way through to electronic and hip hop.
