Used Car Saga Final Chapter

Bubo

Recommended Posts

After months of tire kicking

I scored a used 2011 Buick Lucerne

240hp, Strong Silent and reasonably Swift on the Highway

Not a plain Jane, not a sex pot either

While not the 4 wheel drive gas hog I pined for

this should allow me to meet my transportation needs

Excellent condition 42Kmi,  $14.5K out the door

Low mileage for that year.  Must be a one owner?  Congrats!

2 with records

apparently neither had a commute.

They must have cleaned a gallon of spilled coffee out of the rugs

Does it have a Hemi ?

Respect for tasteful sedans comes with age.

Some of the older engines had flat heads 1920's - 1940s

With better tech and machine tools

the combustion chambers became half spheres

hemispherical

HEMI is a brand name that Chrysler trademarked

for some of the performance engines.

The HEMI product lines produced some impressive engines

Buick is a General Motors Brand name of vehicles

more in the luxury category, like Caddilac

Cadillac also had an impressive Engine named Northstar

Powerful, smooth, efficient V8 250-300 HP depending on  tuning

While I believe Hemi simply refers to hemispherical head, for me it is just an obnoxious sometimes funny Dodge advertising campaign.

True.  Alfa Romeo had a few hemi head engines as well back in the day.  They do a good job of efficiently squeezing horsepower from a given displacement.

A Friend of mine is one of the few who specialize in the restoration of Duesenberg  cars  , it's really a work of art   ,  his shop  can take more than 1 year to fully restore 1 car  ,   Once they find all the Parts  for a 100% original car ,   they start and the parts  search alone can take years ,  everything is done by hand  with the original materials  and specifications  from the chassis , the engine parts and the  interior -these cars are very valuable to Collectors  , once the car is ready ,  the cars are  sent to an Auction House  for the Highest Bidder .
