hugeroost
I have set of unfinished Russian birch, wondering how to clean em. Them being unfinished i'm a bit hesitant to put any chemical, its about the same color as pine, and i'm afraid it will stain. Thanks for any advise....Roost
CWOReilly
Someone may think I'm crazy, but... How about using steel wool? Like 000 or 0000. Would keep them dry and would lightly remove dust and dirt. Just a thought.
Peter P.
If you're concerned about color changes, test any liquid on the bottom of the cabinet first. No one will ever know, not even your mom!

babadono
What about denatured alcohol? And then get some Watco oil finish on those, just my HO.
314carpenter
Water will raise the grain (tiny wood fibers stand up), so stay away from using water-based for cleaning. There's nothing wrong with adding a water-based wood finish product. Non-yellowing. Dries fast and clear. Ultra low sheen. Just prep correctly. Then you can clean them with a damp cloth, murphy oil soap, etc.
