mrock
I've had 4 Forte's from the mid 80's. I think they are originals. The speaker wire connectors are round, not square. I have a Yamaha AVR. I was calibrating my speakers/room when there was a fairly loud "pop" from the left front speaker, then no sound. I will try to remove the AVR as the problem by wiring a small speaker to verify that channel is still viable. Time for new xover? What else can I include/do to do any further problem determination? Thanks! Mike

Peter P.
Crossovers don't usually blow, and if they did they certainly wouldn't blow all three driver outputs simultaneously. My money is on the AVR.

My money is on the AVR. You should go buy a lottery ticket! I took a boom box from a spare room and wired the Forte to it and the speaker is fine ~phew~. Now to decide if the AVR is reparable or get a replacement. Thanks!
