Has anyone raised their Chorus II’s without a loss of stability or bass? I use mine in the garage and rarely sit in front of them. Right now they are on carpeted furniture dollies. Not a great look. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Welcome back! Do your Chorus still have the risers they came with stock?

Yes, you can put them on stands. Yes, it will adversely affect bass, as they won't be directly coupled to the floor. (Linkwitz transform type bass eq fixes it right up.)image.png.642687b9072a91c7c80549ea889cc806.png

While the dollies might not be a "great look", you can transform them with a little woodwork.

Why not attach hardwood or veneered skirts around the dolly bases to hide the wheels, leaving a small gap for rolling around?

Granted, the dollies are likely not the exact dimensions of the speakers, so either modify them to mimic the factory risers, or make your own.

If you're not handy to do this I'm sure you could find a local woodworker to build them.

My Chorus IIs were also on carpeting. The risers were beat, so I replaced them with solid pine Forte IV type risers. That little tweak really tightened up the bass, giving them a more sealed subwoofer type of sound.

Where did you get the risers for your chorus 2’s?

A local speaker builder and carpenter. He works from his garage. There are probably a few in your area.

What is different about the forte risers as compared to the chorus ones? What is it that contributed to the tightened up bass? I’d love to go to a local guy to build risers for me, but I think I need to tell him what I want with a little more description than “put Forte iv style risers on my Chorus II’s please”

could you explain this a little better for me, cause I’d love to do this. My chorus ii risers are looking a little ragged these days.

if you're talking about older forte risers, they were the same as the chorus in design, obviously different in terms of dimensions.

PWK used the enclosed risers to help reinforce bass -- he didn't want the heritage speakers to be suspended on stands, compromising the bass.  you can have them built like they originally were or like they are on the current fortes (leaving about an inch of overhang on the front and sides.
