K-43 woofer vs. K-33 in CWs

I own a pair of 80s Cornwalls.

I was wondering if it made any difference in sound if you changed the woofers from k-33s to K-43s?

I mean, are the original crossovers designed for ONLY K-33s? Or does it not make any difference if you put K-43s in?

Those woofers are interchangeable in the La Scala so I imagine they should be in the Cornwall as well probably lose a bit of low end in exchange for better mid bass? If you have the woofers already wouldn't hurt to swap them out and give it a try maybe report back your impressions?

The polar response of the two woofers may not be the same, which may not be a problem when used in a horn, but could really make a difference when used in a direct radiator cabinet when it gets to the the crossover point. I'm sure that the Chief would know.

Here is something I do know...the K-43 have a much larger magnet than the K-33s.

I have no idea what you mean by the term " direct radiator cabinet" or "polar response" ... these are technical terms that are out of my league.

I just know simple stuff like does it sound better or not.

A given direct radiator doesn't have the same horizontal/vertical output through its whole frequency range. If the horizontal response at the crossover (700Hz) point doesn't match the mid horn/driver, it probably won't sound correct. That's one of the reasons the crossover point for the drivers is chosen, so they will match. So the question is: Are the K33 and K-43 the same in that regard? Probably not, and the sensitivity is certainly different at different frequencies.

I’m really spun up this week. A solid three days on the Klipsch pages on Facebook has me pretty much fried.

Its Friday, time for some Scotch and Gojira.
