Cadmobile500
I recently purchased a Klipsch Academy center speaker and noticed some buzzing and vibration with certain dialog. I rotated the woofers and toghtened all the screws and it's still there. I have the center crossed over at 80hz. I also noticed when pushing on the speakers I can hear a scratching sound. What can I do? Thanks in advance.
wuzzzer
Could be voice coil rub. Does it happen with both woofers?

wuzzzer
I’d remove a driver, the part # will be stamped on it. Check eBay for replacements.
OO1
- A speaker shop can replace the Voice coils of the 8 inch woofers , this effectively repairs the woofers

Cadmobile500
Is this normal? Looks like extra magnets glued on the back of woofers and tweeters. Guy I bought it from said he bought it new and never took it apart....

They could be 'bucking magnets', used to cancel out external magnetic fields, such as those that would mess up/interfere with crt type televisions. Lcd/plasma screens aren't effected by external fields. I don't know if those came from the factory with them or if they were add-ons.

I did some more research and found they are bucking magnets. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/79286-redoing-an-academy/

billybob
Guess you troubleshooted by connecting the other speakers wires to it.
dtr20
This is a center channel which was meant to be used next to TVs of the era, so they are magnetically shielded. You can probably leave that piece off if using a modern flat panel TV or projector.
