I think it is two 210 cabinets with the wings on the sides. The A7 is way smaller.

Hopefully I will be the proud owner of a barn someday.

So I have room for bigger and more speakers.

I bet they have plenty of bass.

it depends ,if you used the original woofers or not ,   the original woofer was only 75 w /16 Ohms

The magic with McIntosh tube amps was the transformers

The Alnico magnets are the certain something in the Altec speakers and compression drivers.

They are also proud of their phase plugs and diaphragms. I think the 802 had an unassailable patent for a long time. Someone sells a ferrite knock off. They don't last long on e-bay.

the largest  Altec VOTT system were the A1  cabs , they were extremely rare  , and these were monsters  , instead of 4 woofers per pair , there were 6 and the cabs were taller .  these were the biggest speakers ever made

ALTEC 15" woofers were rated 30 watts in 1966!

the Altec  16 inch 515 E  cast Ferrite  woofer was  good to 75 watts /16 Ohms , frequency response was 20Hz to 1kHz ,

You would probably be better off with a pair of MWM bass bins and some large modern horns for the mids/tweeter.

Thanks Duke. The stock A-7s were designed to speak through perforated theatre screens, which is why a "naked" A-7 sounds shrieky. With the screen in place, the response is "reasonable" but has not been SOTA for about 70 year, in other words, since Klipschorns hit the market..

Not really ...

It rolls off very quickly below say, 70 hz maybe

these we're Theatre speakers, jot Hifi

A4 cabs did not need  subs with High Power  woofers  , the A4/210  is the most HIFI  large venue speakers ever made ( with the right modifications ) ,  no one used Altec 515 woofers  (75 w/ 16Ohm) for serious bass
