LTusler
Everybody should read A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, it explains it all.

HiFi Heaven
DC [Direct Current] can't produce Hiss, Hum, or ANY sound at all! Test this with a 1.5 V DC battery connected directly to your speaker. The woofer will move once and stay there until the battery is dead, turning the battery DC energy into HEAT, not SOUND. Not a Peep! HUM is usually steady 60 or 120-Hz buzzing from AC power wiring sneaking into inadequately shielded patch cords, or faulty grounding. Ancient tube amplifiers with failing filter capacitors might go "Hmmm" as the owner tells you "It Hums because it doesn't know the Words!" HISS is thermal noise of random electrons partying inside your preamp, you have to turn the volume way up to hear them - they are very small. If you enjoy HISS like I do, get a Ham Radio and talk to me on the air! 73, NØCRE "Can't Remember Everything" FCC Licensed since 1960 3

Gwynn
I'm on 1977 Cornwalls: Yamaha RX-V6A is dead silent. I added an Integra ADM 2.1, still completely no hiss. I recently purchased a GLOW Audio Amp Two and while I love it's look and sound, with the power above 75% it both hums and hisses.
Marvel
I would try a couple shorting plugs in a set of the rca inputs, with no other equipment connected (other than your speakers). If you still have hum, it's the amp. If not, there's a ground issue between gear. The only tube gear I have left I my preamp. I can only hear hiss (faintly) when it up close to my speakers. When I had my 2A3 tube amps, I had very faint hum, not at all noticeable when music was playing. I could have remedied that by changing the heaters to DC from AC. To me is wasn't worth the trouble. Robert R
Unboxed my new R-40PM speakers. Hooked them up. I hear hiss standing next to the speakers. Nothing else is attached. No input or output. Just the speakers. Now. My router and home security hub is right next to the Right speaker. Aggravated. Can send them back to Amazon. Shouldn’t they be quiet? diamonddelts
Zero hiss. Klipsch 3 way Jubilee clones with QSC RMX 5050a amp. Though it took me trying out over thirty amps and switching to balanced connections before I got to this point of absolute quiet even with no audio playback.
