Vacation Time, Part 2

A lot of areas look real good, but the pics don't do them justice. After the trip back to Coron, today we went out island hopping. Most water travel is done by banca. They can be 8-10 ft long, to over 40 feet. There is no shipyard/boatyard, they just get built by someone who wants one, or they wait until an owner needs the money and they get a deal

Here's one place where we climbed about 200 steps up to this view. Could have gone down a different set of steps to a small lake (deep), with brackish water 70% fresh and 30% salt water.

Hi Jeff! No,  but my wife, after reuniting with her parents, lived in Culion, at the North end of Palawan.

We're looking at another place in the Philippines. We visited there a few years ago and really liked it. Both places are fairly safe from typhoons (Culion and Valencia). Plans may change, though.

The town of Coron is not on the island of Coron, but on Busuanga. No crime to speak of and they really work hard to keep it clean... We stayed in a resort that had been in existence until covid hit and they went under. New owners came in and have done a marvelous job with it. Here's some pics .

I love hearing about your island-hopping adventure in Coron! The banca sounds fascinating—so much character in those handcrafted boats. Climbing those 200 steps must have been quite the workout, but the view sounds like it was totally worth it. The mix of fresh and saltwater in the lake is intriguing; nature always finds a way to surprise us! I've just joined this forum, and your post caught my eye because I'm fresh off a trip to Costa Rica. I stayed at a resort in Manuel Antonio, and let me tell you, it's a gem. The place is stunning, with gorgeous beaches and lush rainforests. I can't wait to share more travel stories and hear about others' adventures here.
