Hofy
For your 2 channel stereo how many inputs do you find to be the right amount? For me it is 3. 1. CD 2. Phono 3. Tuner/Extra Thank you for your input.
mobile homeless
Three inputs does it for me as well. Acually, two seems to be enough for my main rig which only has vinyl and digital. My backup gear is what I plug everything into which includes Nakamichi decks, reel to reels, various tuners, turntables, cd players, 4- tracks, and the computer when the mood strikes. kh
Hofy
Actually 2 inputs would be enough for me also. CD & Phono. A tuner in these parts is a waste, unless you like country or pop/top 40. Thus my #3 of Tuner/Extra.
Invidiosulus
Three would do it for me also. Vinyl, CD, Tuner. The Tuner I actually listen to a whole lot because of WUCF which is the college jazz station of the University of Central Florida. Obviously for me this is in an idealized theoretical system where I would have seperate two channel and HT gear. But then again, what would I know about a two channel setup? I'm using a Sony Playstation2 as my cd/dvd player. Peace, Josh
Invidiosulus
Hofy, I used to live outside of madison as a little kid and I remember there being numerous polka stations on the am dial. Have the times changed so much that even the polka stations have gone the way of the buffalo or is the pursuit of the oompah oompah on the airwaves a pastime in which you do not partake?? OH how I remember the joy that came from listening to the radio as a little kid. And the times I spent fishing along the crawfish river... my but that is some beautiful country up there. dougdrake
None. I just like to look at the darn thing. Plus, it saves me from having to buy speakers.
mobile homeless
dougdrake, in some very real way, you might be achieving a quality of perfect sound that some only dream off. I might have to shift my ultimate definition of "air" here. Excellent. kh
Invidiosulus
It seems to me that Doug has found a surefire way to avoid hum. Peace, Josh
jt1stcav
Right now, 0...zero, zilch, nada...(see my signature system below). But if I bought a tube preamp right now, I'd need: 1) CD (for a future player with tube output) 2) Phono (for a future Rega, Music Hall, or Pro-ject) 3) Tuner (for a future Magnum Dynalab) 4) Tape (for my existing Nakamichi DR-1) 5) Aux (for my existing Panasonic SV-3700 DAT recorder) Plus an extra output for my 15" home-made subwoofer.
