Sounds like something is broken to me. I posted an architectural drawing of the room further up in this thread with all the layout if you want to see it. Since my last post, I switched to using a pair of mc225s and the system is plenty loud even at moderate volume. At the risk of angering the gods of thread monitoring, I won't say much else on the topic of tube amps in a class D thread.
Flevoman
This topic is heading in a direction that aligns well with where I currently am. Maybe it's okay if I tag along for a bit? What would be a good amplifier choice for the bass cabinet of the Underground Jubilee if tight and detailed bass is the goal? I've owned the UJ for a few months now, and I had a few amplifiers, but they were all tube amps. Actually, my only experience with amplifiers up until now has been with tube amps. Since I understood that transistors are almost always better for tight bass, I immediately bought a DIY Class A/B transistor amp from someone. I listened to it for a few months until an audio friend familiar with full horn speakers visited and concluded that it didn't sound right in my setup. To reinforce his point, he connected his Aiyima 07 MAX Class D amplifier to the bass cabinets. The difference was significant—a much cleaner and tighter bass. Now that I've heard how much of a difference an amplifier can make for bass, I'm very curious about your experiences. With this very affordable amplifier, am I already getting the tightest bass the UJ can deliver, or are there amplifiers that can provide even tighter and more detailed bass?
KT88
There is an extra point. As far as I know, your tube amps are all SET. The bass from a tube amp is something completely different if it is a push pull amp with e.g. 40 watts of power and feedback, much more control and great impedance independence from the speaker. Flevoman
Not really. I have a 2A3 PP, I just don’t know how much power this delivers. I thought around 18 Watt AB But the 07 MAX class D delivers tighter bass than this PP tube amplifier.

derrickdj1
Never owned a SET amp but, the PP tube amps that I have owned all had excellent bass. They all could put out over 25 watts at a minimum and ovcr 50 watts per ch. without a problem.
parlophone1
My KT88 push-pull with 100 watts has excellent bass. Hypex NC400 monoblocks (class D) give me more defined bass. Kenwood M1 with 105 watts in class AB gives better of both worlds; good definition, tight and articulated bass. But not that much better than class D.
Flevoman
I only have experience with the 07 MAX class D. But is it likely that a more expensive class D amplifier would produce tighter, more detailed bass? Or is that not where the tonal improvement of a more expensive class D amplifier lies?
