Cory
Well after a year of dancing around in audio land with the others, my Promedias have begun to lack the, how you say, oomph and quality that I desire. So here's what I want to do. I want to get a moderately low-end 2-channel receiver and be able to hook it up to my computer, aka a 3.5 mm audio connection. So heres what I need: Receiver recommendation Bookshelf speaker recommendation for that particular receiver Cable recommendation Essentially what Im asking is for everyone to pitch their desktop dream system any thinkers out there? Invidiosulus
If you are going to be using a computer for the front end of this setup it is nice to have a soundcard with a digital output(sb-live etc.) When I went from using the 1/8" miniplug analog to using the digital out the level of background noise dropped considerably. Peace, Josh
dougdrake
Also, Cory, were it me, I'd pick the speakers first, then get a receiver to drive them (or an integrated amp). What's your budget? I mean, I could suggest a $2000 pair of bookshelf speakers, but that might not help much Doug
Cory
Let's assume a non-broke college student's budget hehe
dougdrake
Cory - Try as I might, I just can't imagine what the figure is. It's been 20 years since I was a college student, and the ones I know today have spent tons on stuff I wouldn't have spent the money on. Sorry, but I (for one) need more to go on!
