KT88
Quick question, is it possible to disassemble a no collard Khorn from 1973 into two parts? high section and bass section. Or does it mean a lot of screws to loosen and in the worst case that the bass is no longer tight? I'm picking up a 1973 no collard Khorn from Italy next week. The seller wants to try to split it so that my transportation will be easier. But please, if it's not intended for that, then I'd rather carry heavier and tell him. mikebse2a3
@KT88 If it is similar to this one I found the HF section is held on to the LF section by 2-L Brackets and Wing Nuts (one on each side) and is easily disassembled by removing the Wing Nuts.
KT88
Mike, thank you very much. The horn I buy looks very similar. It should work as you describe to separate the parts.
KT88
Do the two rods to the left and right of the midrange driver also have to be loosened? Is the plate part of the bass cabinet?

The complete top section easily lifts off (after removing the two wing nuts, as noted by @mikebse2a3). When transporting K-horns, I sometimes quickly remove the side grills and store all the wing nuts in a plastic bag.

When I had Khorns the grills had L-Brackets and Wing Nuts as well so just remove 2 Wing Nuts per grill.
babadono
Easy-peasy. The whole squawker/tweeter grill assembly comes out in one piece as well after removing 4 screws(and wires from crossover of course).
KT88
Thanks you for your input. I've never had a Khorn before.
babadono
The only thing that does not come apart is the bass bin itself. Without a crowbar and sledgehammer
