Power outage no electricity - less energy guzzler

Recommended Posts

Good day,

I wake up this morning there were a power outage, no electricity , so my questions for you:

I hook up my amplifier and tuner with my speaker to my computer UPS, I did only two hours with a 550 watts

So my question for you guys if you could kindly help:

n1 - what is the less gosling energy, musical amplifier and source?

I live far in the country ( they call it electricity not electricountry),

Power failure seems to increase year after year so I already hooked up my system with UPS but so far not enough power for a long time

N2 - Any suggestion for UPS charge that could work for hi-fi

N3 - Just curious, is there some of you that try solar energy with battery for when there is power failure?

Best regards

So far, equipment consumption is hard to find...

found for my power amp (small) at 12 watts per mono bloc (Schiit : 2/mono 4 w output, but i will need 2)

+ a passive preamp (TBD - 0 watts)

+ TT (SL-1200 11 watts)

+ phono preamp (zen iFi 1.8 watts)

+ UPS Cyberpower 550 watts

For a total of: 36 watt, so almost 4 hours and more, to be tested with my Cyberpower app

or a CD player (still hard to find info, but mine use 0.5watts when standby, no clue what it really use? Still searching info

or a Bluetooth for the car (1/8 output and usb powered) + cellphone - not really HiFi? Still searching infos

is there a way to measure it? hum, google that? will get back, still searching info

thanks

PS very fun to listen music when it's summer, and nothing else work except your gear...! a DC pleasure (AC/DC B in B)

That's only the output power.  That doesn't take filament heaters or standing plate dissipation of ~20-25 watts each tube.

So a 5 watt 6L6, would be more 50 watts consumption in energy...! Wow OK!

My UPS, has USB monitoring consumption, so will hook the amp, to it, and it will tell me approximately, how many hour, i would do with the amp. Than, i guess rule of thumb, for approximation for 12-24 hours of music.

Your power amp with most likely consume the most power.

A small digital/chip amp will serve you better. I don't have one/any, but many on here can provide more than enough info to push you along.

Our power where I live hardly ever goes out. We have nuclear and hydro both providing our area. Unless a tree comes down over some lines or a vehicle accident takes out a pole, we're usually good.
