Terry Palmer Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) I have a question. I have a pair of Hersey 3’s in Cherry very nice. I have an opportunity to get some Chorus II’s. I’ve heard Chorus II’s before and loved them. Would I be down grading. The Chorus II’s are Walnut in good regular condition. No up grades. any input would help. jcn3 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Uhhh. Definitely not a downgrade. Why would you think that it is? 2 Quote

Iteachstem Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 My suggestion. Buy the Chorus II speakers. Put them side by side and do an A/B comparison and let your ears make the decision for you. Which ever one you like less, sell, or move to another room. 2 Quote
Peter P. Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 The Chorus IIs play considerably lower than the Heresy IIIs and I believe you'll notice the difference. Efficiency is close to equal. I'd say go for it. 2 Quote
Flevoman Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I had the Heresy 2 once and upgraded to the Chorus 1. This was a big improvent, so go for it. 2 Quote
Schu Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 mor larger... mor betta... all the way up the entire line. Quote
Flevoman Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 The Chorus has temporarily replaced the Cornwall. You can place the Chorus in the same position as the Cornwall in the Heritage lineup. So, above the Heresy and the Forte. So it will never be a downgrade. Which one you will prefer in terms of sound is a combination of your room, setup and personal preference, but I find it hard to imagine that you would prefer the sound of the Heresy over the Chorus. 1 Quote
Terry Palmer Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Thanks everyone for your input. I’m planning on doing it. I had some Chorus 2’s at one time. Loved the way they sounded and one of them had a blown tweeter and blown crossover. After getting it fixed not to original it still sound led great. But ended up selling them went to quartets and then to Hersey 3’s. Which I currently have. Wish I hadn’t parted with them and would have just had them redone. 2 Quote

You want him to burn them and put their ashes in an urn? Or did you mean sell them and with the earnings, take his wife out to dinner? Quote

Coytee Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I don't think Stem is in part, spelling, right? So there ya go!! Built in excuse! (I'm retirement guy for 12 counties of teachers so I enjoy picking on them from time to time) Quote
Tom05 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Personal preference , it depends a lot on how you like your bass , do you prefer super tight bass or extended . Heresy won’t reproduce low frequency rumble with much authority, so a cleaner tighter bass compared to Chorus may be perceived by some listeners. I don’t think of Heresy as a down grade to any other heritage speaker , they are excellent in their own way. 🤓 1 Quote
