Please rate the various Forte iterations. I’m trying to decide whether or not to upgrade from my Forte 3s to Forte 4s via the $399 kit. (X 2).  Scale of 1 to 10. For example:

I  6

II  6.5

III 7

IV 8.2

i don't own fortes but if you do a search on the upgrade, i think you'll find that people thought it was a bargain and a no-brainer (assuming you like your forte iii).  there's no cheaper way to get a forte iv.

The most significant change to the forte IV over the III are the steep slope crossovers.  I owned forte II for almost 30 years, they now belong to a forum member.  I have found my forever speaker in the IV.  I have heard III's in the wild.  The IV is more refined, with deeper/tighter bass.  I think you would be happy with the upgrade.

okay -- so on a scale of 1-10, you guys say that a forte (v I-III) is a 5 and a forte iv is a 5.5?  so then, you guys are saying the upgrade isn't worth it?

I get your point. The  5 to 5.5 range doesn’t do Forte justice  . We’re not talking Bose cubes here. Most believe that the upgrade kit is “worth it” .
