oldtimer
I think it smells like teen spirit, but I also like doll parts. On the other hand, there is that band, radiohead, with their song creep...
geezin'
A lot of territory there. Can't really do a best song. Two standouts of the time to me are Janes Addiction and Primus.

I saw Primus last year playing Rush's A Farewell to Kings album. Awesome show, great bassist. I'd say he plays lead bass!

Primus and Jane’s Addiction probably had the biggest influence on my music taste. Primus, Sailing the seas of Cheese, was the first CD I owned.

So I'll blast off here Echo the primus, my mix tape "The Shit" went from rage know your enemy to big brown beaver. Helmet tripped my trigger and fishbone. Then you got "temple of the dog" what a collaboration. Who remembers 1994 MTV music awards when pearl jam played with niel young? ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD, Dave Abruzee killed it Amazing times!!! That stopped a kegger I was at and everyone watched. So I have to say that song. Now AC/DC live monsters of rock....! the one live album I owned from cassette box set, got a AC/DC bill$ in it, then bought CD, DVD, had it on wii rock band, and now blu ray today! Not sure if that's 90's but I can't say that about any other bands. Some friends here brought up Dave mathews. You had phish and more. St louis the urge "getting hectic" Can't wait to hear others songs and memories.

geezin'
Are The Chili Peppers considered HipHop? Their music carries a large dollop of funk but I always thought of it as rock.

Until the 90s I mostly considered them neo punk. Then alternative.
geezin'
I don't use that sharp a blade to define music. Just rock, jazz, classical, ect. The artists that play it mark the differences to me. BTW Punk died 14 January 1978.
