I purchased the Yamaha A-S2200 and connected through Speaker-level in stereo to two Martin Logan Dynamo 1600X Subwoofers (pre-out to the Rotel RB-1582 out-put to Klipsch RF-7iii). - One of the reasons I purchased this Intergrated Amplifier is because it can Turn-off the speakers (I can turn-off the Subwoofers).

The Yamaha A-S2200 manual suggests not to connect active-subwoofers through Speaker-level.   (I contacted Yamaha a few days ago; they haven't replied yet)

Anyone know the reason for Yamaha to not recomend the Speaker-level connection to Active-Subwoofers?

Thank you

Good question.  Your Yamaha doesn’t have sub outs so it isn’t a question of bass management.

If I were you, I’d use a y splitter for each pre-out, running one cable to your Rotel and one to your sub for each pre-out.

If your 2 ML subs are connected as you would main speakers one for left and one for right there is no problem. Hooking up a mono subwoofer with the left and right channels of the Yamaha tied together in a common ground is the issue since the A-S2200 has a floating ground (like many class D amplifiers).

Stereo subwoofers hooked up through the speaker level input is not a problem with your Yamaha.

Thanks for your input/replies.

(I connect the Left Sub-woofer to the A-S2200's Left Speaker-level out-put and the Right Sub-woofer to the A-S2200's Right Speaker-level out-put) - it sounds Alright.
