Tarheel
My elderly CD player has been trouble free for 16 or so years with no maintenance. I have been using it on coax bypassing the tubed output. Due to a different system addition I had to go back to RCA patch cords and tubed output. I started to get a popping sound that was not present on coax. I changed both tubes and replaced the patch cords with another set. Still pops. Any ideas or is it now just an expensive door stop?
DirtyErnie
Gut feeling is telling me maybe a plate resistor failed in the tube final. Not a door stop, but needs repair.
Tarheel
Thanks Ernie. Sadly there are no repair shops near by and I'm not sure it's worth repair plus shipping two ways. I guess someone might like to use it with the coax.
Tarheel
Took it over to my other house and plugged it in. No noise!
mark1101
My Jolida had broken solder joints in the tube section. I touched them up and the noise went away.
