My elderly CD player has been trouble free for 16 or so years with no maintenance.  I have been using it on coax bypassing the tubed output.  Due to a different system addition I had to go back to RCA patch cords and tubed output.  I started to get a popping sound that was not present on coax.  I changed both tubes and replaced the patch cords with another set.  Still pops.

Any ideas or is it now just an expensive door stop?
