Original ProMedia 2.1 Lacking High End Frequencies

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just picked up a first generation ProMedia 2.1 speaker set and I am having some trouble getting them to sound good. Initially, the speakers would crackle/cut in or out when adjusting the volume, so I cleaned the pots out with DeoxIT. That worked great, all crackling is completely gone and the connection is rock solid. However, when listening to the speakers it sounds like something is missing in the high end. I have wiggled all of the connections making sure they are tight, used two different computers without any processing/EQs, and tried to use a different 3.5mm cable for the input. No difference was made. Bass is tight and clean, so I know that part works fine. I couldn't seem to find any answers online or on this forum.

Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
