winglet Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 Why not use the forte for both home theater and stereo listening? You can purchase a switch that allows selecting between different amplifiers to drive the same pair of speakers Quote
michaelwjones Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 I agree with Shaky you don't have enough room for a Heritage on the original 6” wall plus nearly anything will protrude into the doorway. I might agree a Heresy could work where the stand mounts are now until you find a larger space in the main area for them. Fortes and larger nee more space, IMHO. But if you want Klipsh sound NOW, consider PR600Ms on 22” stands. I set up a small area for a friend with them and they sound far better than I expected. Quote

Additional space from each other and (the most difficult of all) more clear space between the speakers & your listening spot. Using the old (but certainly not the only) triangular “sweet spot” estimator, if your speaker are 6’ apart, your "sweet spot" for accurate listening will be in the neighborhood of 6’ from the speakers. With my LSIIs 12’ apart, my “spot” was just over 10’ from the speakers. I think the most important thing is moving forward while the WAF is positive. Worry about exacting placement later... 🙂 2 Quote
Mauzz Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 Looking at your pictures I really like the idea of Fortes on each side of the cabinet. We just redid our living room this year and i was able to get pair of Forte IVs and, since it is also our living room, a single Heresy IV for our center channel. As a fellow WFHer I get the need to get away from the work room. I only have about 4 months of listening time on them but I still sit down on the couch every night after dinner and just listen to however many songs I can get away with. We have a really large open floor plan and the Fortes still fill the room effortlessly when I'm in 2 channel. I have about 12 feet of space between them and with a little toe in I actually had to get up off the couch to make sure i really was in 2 channel and that the center was truly off! I cant quite compare apples to apples but since i don't have two, but I have noticed i can occasionally localize the sound of the Heresy as being below me. Either set would have been a life changing step up from my old reference series klipsch floor standers and for everything above the low frequencies they sound almost identical to me. That said I'm still pleased to have the Fortes instead of a 3 Heresy front end (which i would bet also sounds awesome, lol). Let us know what you end up with! Quote

I have 5 of them in a home theater setup along with two horn loaded subs. Pretty awesome experience. Agreed. A wall that short would be overwhelmed by the larger Heritage speakers. Heresies with your SVS subwoofer is the same setup I have, against a 15' wall. You won't be disappointed. You should also consider the Klipsch floorstanding speakers as they have an even smaller footprint. They may lack a midrange driver or the cachet of the Heritage line, but I'll be you'd be surprised at their performance. Edit: Now that I see the photos and additional info you provided. I'd say replace the bookshelf speakers on the entertainment center with Heresies on each end and maybe replace those knick knack stands with something you can place over the Heresies: the Mrs. still gets to display her whatevahs, you get the speakers, and you'll save space. Forget any concerns about matching the timbre of the main speakers to the center channel; sometimes you just have to compromise. Quote
Marvel Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 The Forte versions have a passive radiator on the rear, so you would need a few inches out from the wall. An original pair of Chorus have front firing ports, instead of a PRs. Passives work as ports, but provide smoother response. I would look for a nice pair of original Chorus, with ports on the front. Don't get me wrong, the newer models are better than the earlier versions, but you are limited in placement. Welcome to the madness! Quote
