I'm not sure why I'm having such a negative reaction to all of this, but I am. I haven't heard the speakers, of course. I assume none of us have. Maybe they sound spectacular, but that doesn't seem to be the objective of the enterprise...the objective appears to be design cool and marketing.

We can't understand it because we are dinosaurs.

Well, maybe there is some historical precedence for this? Did PWK collaborate with other speaker makers, and designers to develop speakers? Sold, as "Klipsch"? Other brands? Has Klipssch co-branded speakers in the distant past? I don't think they have. PWK associated himself with Orr Tape (Shamrock), other products. Recent past? Yes, Capitol Records, Klipsch Museum Editions, and McLaren).

My initial thought is they remind me of Heresy I’s and II’s on steroids.  Yet their price point sets them right in between Forté IV and Cornwall IV.  Seems like that may be a tall order.  Won’t really know until some more third party reviews come out.  But with the amount of knowledge and experience that went into them, I’d wager they’re going to make it a tough choice for anyone in the market for a set around that price range.

Old information yet, read that a Collab of a sort long ago, with EV and Klipsch over the design of the Aristocrat corner speaker.

The value will probably take a major nosedive from $8,500.00 just like the McLaren series......

Only one in the Klipsch-McLaren lineup was limited (25 pairs), that MC 905 something. Those were &16,000 a pair and they sold out pretty quick. There is a pair at the Houston McLaren dealer, or there was. The other things, Forte, One, Six, those were not limited and I think they did them in batches, sold them, built more, and yes, there were deep discounts on some Mac Fortes, and One and Sixes, but they were blowing out inventory on everything. I think Cory filled a warehouse at about that time.

His bookshelf speakers, with those duplex speakers, were going for 5K per pair in the SFMOA museum store.

The pricing of his speakers and other audio items defy convention, at least to me. These are being sold at two dealers in the United States, one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast. Appointment only kind of places. I'm gathering both of them have a relationship with Turnbull, and some extent Klipsch

That's the one I am thinking of, but couldn't quite remember. The Historian is the guy for that, but I remember now that you mention EV that Jim has discussed this.

I wouldn't be waiting for reviews. I don't know if they are sending a review pair out or not, I kind of doubt it based on only two dealers offering them in the entire US.

I see this collaboration as a work of art with a distinctive sound and look which will speak to those who appreciate it’s unique qualities.

I’m sure it’s not cheap to make those horns, stands or cabinets and thus limited production all add to cost as well as the engineering time spent by Roy again for a very limited production.

Everyone has their value system and speaking for myself I see real value here and to each their own as it should because nothing is for everyone.

miketn 🙂

That video is well worth the watch. Discusses so many topics discussed in the thread thus, far. His background, idea behind the collaboration, etc.  Thanks for mentioning iit Mike, I went back and actually looked for it this time and found it.

Link to Klipsch page with the video, scroll down, and look for the "Play" arrow and the speaker (click off mute). I'm slow, took me a couple of scans.

The EV Aristocrat, Royal and Baronet were sold as "Klipsch Licensed Folded Corner Horn Enclosures".   The Patrician, Georgian were sold as licensed versions of the Klipschorn folded unit (K-type reproducer).

You are like the rest of us dinosaurs. (I had the advantage of getting up to speed on him when I heard this might be a possibility a few years ago, and then more recently leading up to this announcement is the only reason I found a lot of what is below).

Devon is part artist, visionary, and engineer, I'm not sure I have seen anything like it. Devon Turnbull, like a lot of DIY hobbyist folks, spent years and years messing around with speakers, modifying them, changing them, and experimenting, along with tube amplifiers and other things related to audio. It's a passion of his apparently. The major difference between Devon and even the most advanced  DIY speaker builder is he builds and sells his speakers.

Yeah, a real Leonardo. Sheesh!

I don't care either way, actually glad the Chief had some fun and made a new friend but isn't the statement above the exact reason those whom should not be named should not be named?

First, not all of us are dinosaurs🤪.  I do understand the marketing behind it and after you have provided some back ground, it makes sense.  Outside of some marketing aspect, there isn't anything specials about Ojas, other than that he hits a market Klipsch isn't and probably wants to and I don't see any issue with that.  I just wish people would quit knocking all the others that like Ojas... many people take Horn A and put on bas reflex box with woofer B, and make it look pretty.  Lets be honest, how much engineering is needed behind that? Its not like he's designed a new concept like the Heritage Jubilee.

Maybe one of these dealers can setup a demo for online and in person.

Thanks!

Example 1 creates his own brand and approaches Roy/Klipsch about doing a collaboration.

Example 2(or 3 or 4) tries to use the Klipsch owned forum to market their mods/company/etc while talking about how inferior the stock Klipsch products are.

This is a simplification of the situation but surely you can understand the difference.

At $8,500.00 a pair, they are well above forte IV & Cornwall IV.

Maybe, but it isn't the collaboration in and of itself that leaves me cold. It's the collaboration with a designer without audio engineering credentials to produce a speaker that is more about looks/style at a "luxury" price point than it is about quality sound. At least that's the way it comes off to me. Maybe I'm wrong. Plus, no one asked my opinion.

I think I will just go enjoy listening to my Fortes. 😁
