* Where are you located, that might help garner interest

* There are folks who will say you live your life around speakers such as those!!

* That said, good luck with any potential sale!

Hello,

If you want a relatively fast sale, I'd start at $1,000 and accept offers to make people feel good about bargaining you down on the price.  If you want to sit on them and wait for top dollar, go ahead and list them for $1,500 or more.

You'll most likely sell to a diehard Klipsch fan as the younger generations are starting to care less and less about good audio/video.  They are watching shows/movies on their phones and listening to audio via mediocre airpod headphones and via Bluetooth on crappy portable speakers at best.

Thanks everyone for the swift replies, really appreciate it :D

I'm based in Germany in case that's relevant for any of you.

I placed an ad for the speakers at arount 1500 Euros. I got some requests asking if the drivers and the crossovers are genuine. Are these serious requests?

Yes, tell them they are original, if you want to. Unmodded.  Welcome... @timtody

Edit: Except for the one woofer?

The one with the larger voice coil looks original. The smaller appears to be from Cornwall 1.

Not certain what difference it makes. Sorry, should have looked again.

How can you know that @billybob1? Or does it simply not matter?

Noticed the different woofer too recently. Someone pointed out that it's important they have consecutive serial numbers which they do have.

Just to be sure - the recommendation of 1500 is total i.e. 750 per speaker?

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Guess someone could have refreshed the crossover capacitors but unlikely.

As for the woofers, 1985 was a transition between the Cornwall 1 and 2 models, maybe one of each model was used possibly, yet unlikely.

If you have serious buyer prospects, guess you could open speakers to check crossover and speakers. Or, a prospect could break the seal.

Drinking coffee here.

See nothing wrong with price per exchange rate.

Others can say more or different there

Alright, thanks. I was just curious if the recommendation of 1500 was per speaker or per pair or speakers :)

Yes, charge what you want to see if they sell. Would pay 1000+ if in this country...the rear panels look like model 1, that is why mentioned transition period.

Just an opinion... Think some here call them 1.5 being transition.

i'm sure they were thinking per pair.  i agree that the fact that one of the woofers is not original is the biggest issue.  it looks like your speakers are older than '85 -- that label is older despite the fact that it says cornwall II.  a label for a '85 cornwall is shown below.  it looks like you have a serial number stamped into the top of the back edge.  can you tell us what is stamped there?

fyi -- klipsch was a little sloppy with the naming convention for the cornwall over the years.  they called the cornwall a "II" twice.

Hi @jcn3 thanks for your message! I've attached higher res images of the labels on the back :) The serial number stamped into the back of the speakers matches the labels shown here!

Ok, so they are Cornwall 1s. The P in the serial number means they were made in 1976 and the WO means they're walnut veneer with an oiled finish (and is obvious from your pics).

The E after Cornwall means they were an export model.

They should have a K-77 tweeter with a round alnico magnet and a k55-v midrange driver also with an alnico magnet. The woofers should be a K-33 - one of them is clearly not; the pic of the other isn't clear enough to be sure. Replacement K-33 woofers are still available from Klipsch.

Value is tough to say. I sold a pair of 76 Cornwalls with WO finish in near perfect condition with updated capacitors for $1800 a couple of years ago - could probably have gotten more. I would guess that in the US you could get $1200 plus or minus since the cabinets are WO and look in quite good condition but there are issues with the woofers. Prices in Europe seem to to be quite a bit higher than in the US.
