Long time fan of La Scalas but have never owned a pair. Saw these pop up, asking 2.5k and drive-able for me. From my research (thank you Klipsch community) they're from 1981. Noticed the missing wire on the woofer - seller says a cut-off switch was installed on them as used in studio. Wondering what you all think of these/anything to look out for?

Welcome @renewillem...upon the poor picture quality, check cabinet integrity for damage,, water damage connect wire for woofer, look abit rough to me. Had bought 84 pair pair for under 1.k In better shape integrity of the cabinets.

Others may say or ask more questions.

Looks like a pair of thousand dollar speakers to me. And that’s being kind.

2500.00 should get you a pair of excellent condition 70s -80s LaScalas. One need only look at the environment where that picture was taken to get an understanding of what you are getting.

 Very!

I know prices are up over years gone by, but I'd not go near those unless the asking price was in the 5-700 range and I was itching for a long winters project.

haha, appreciate the responses, think I was talking myself into them - seeing they rarely pop up drive-able from me (NY), but will keep searching, thank you all

My La Scalas were in a little better shape, but definitely beaters. The seller wanted $600, so that's what we did. That was during the price runup for the Federal stimulus money season.

Oh and, if you are looking for garage speakers, go for after more information.

I'm just a bargain hunter. You may decide to cheer them up with a little makeup later. Members here like Matthews worth looking at his refurbs.

If no grilles for tops... well, they run naked too.

So where are they located at?  Location always plays a big part in price....and stupidity, too.  lol  I know there are 2 sets of LS's in black listed on FB Marketplace of which one pair is in Tulsa and the other in Little Rock.  Both are that same price but in MUCH better shape.  Would I pay $2500 for a pair?  Hell no....but I'm a cheapskate.  :D

They're upstate NY, and yep, I'd rather pay less than $2500 too 🙂

Offered $800, don't mind doing some work, but will see what happens

If he comes back at 2 go to 12 or walk away. Good luck!

Only way that is worth the price asking is if the Memorymoog in the background is thrown into the deal.  If that is the case, run, do not walk, do not pass go, get there with cash and a smile.

Update for you all. Appreciate all the responses. Ended up buying these ones that popped up about a 9 hour round trip from me. One owner with original receipts/sales brochures etc.
