I don't have the MC462 but I have the MA9500 with the CW4 since a couple of years. Great sound, better than some others like Parasound a21, Primaluna EVO400, Mark Levinson 5805, Audio Analogue Anniversary Bellini/Donizetti, Luxman 507Z, Albarry m408mk2, all of them tested in my room. I'm using the 4 ohm outputs, in order to have a much better bass. The big woofer is not so easy to control because of its low impedance on low frequency. All other amplifications were missing something, the 9500 nothing, I'm pretty sure the 462 will be still better. Don't be afraid about the huge power of your ampli, it's not useless at all if you use to listen a bit loud. Edited October 25, 2024 by mla 1 Quote

Despite their precison, too many and too big limitations with the Ls3/5a. I found the CW4 sound much more vivid and natural, the Ls3/5a were missing dynamics, of course just my personal opinion. It depends on what you are looking for. At the end of the day, I also find useless a second pair of loudspeaker, a very good pair of Epos ES14 is always parked indeed. Ok but the LS3/5a is for a very different purpose, best to listen to in the near field, no comparison with the CW4 or LaScala and not intended to fill a room with music. In the very near field I can hear a lot of dynamics from the LS3/5a, best in a small to medium sized room. 2 Quote

CW4 at about 9ft from the listening point and Ls3/5a at 7ft. Larger room is much better for the CW but unfortunately mine is not so. The only good thing in my case is a 5ft opening on one side of the room. BTW I'm not saying that CW are better than Ls3/5a, I'm just saying that I prefear the first. Quote

Paired with Mcintosh C22 preamp and MC462 power amp. I have tried with other SET amps (nothing in higher league like quicksilver, decware etc) to me Mciontosh and Kilpsch had better fidelity. I dont see a reason to buy SET or an tube amplifier for la scala. 1 Quote

Don think Mcintosh is good match for Falcon Gold Badge. I had Falcon when i had ma252 and later c22/mc462 separates, Falcons were better with many of british amplifiers like Sugden, Rega, Naim etc. Any way I sold falcons, and put my Harbeths for sale and now owner of La Scala AL5 In terms of sheer scale, and midrange presence La Scala are epic. 2 Quote
