I'd like to see it taller and narrower.

I like the size, perhaps a bit deeper, but not by much, faster bass response and open the throat slightly more in the mid horn....???

More reinforcement and deadening??? and.....34-34k Hz Frequency possibility????

This is just for fun. Of course, no mention of V's currently, but time is near........ 🤔

What do you think the next series Cornwall V will have in store for us Klipschownians......?

What changes would you like to hear?

Seems like with the short throw, 2” horn and driver that is coming to the AL-6 & AK-7, they’d have a perfect opportunity to do a factory Cornscala and do it right, like only they can. It would be a super ballsy move.

That would be awesome and probably garner a lot of interest.

I heard the latest versions of both the Chorus and the Cornwall at the 2019 Bonehead Class. I much preferred the sound of the Cornwall.

Stock '90's Chorus II vs a new Cornwall IV? I don't doubt that for a second. IMO stock Cornwall of the same era was the lesser speaker but they were close. After owning the forte IV I can see why along with the Cornwall IV there's really no room for a new Chorus.

My mistake -- what I heard at the Bonehead Class was the Forte IV, not the "Chorus IV" (which apparently doesn't exist). There was also a comparison with the previous generation of "everything with a direct-radiator woofer". To my ears, the Cornwall IV was the best of the bunch.

It happens that a family member has a pair of Chorus. They are good, but they're not as good as the Cornwall IV.

Time alignment is not nearly as big a problem in the models with direct-radiator woofers as it is in the models with horn-loaded woofers. However, DSP crossovers and EQ can still work wonders in any loudspeaker.

Extending the low-frequency response in a bass reflex enclosure is dangerous. Below the box tuning frequency, the cone excursion rises rapidly, wasting amplifier power, causing modulation distortion, and greatly increasing the probability of driver damage. To do it properly requires changing the box tuning frequency (generally means lengthening the ports) and then using EQ to flatten the response.

Something along the lines of the time-alignment/DSP stuff they’re doing with the AL6. A bit more low end extension would always be welcome. Whatever they do, I’d love for it to be something that I could buy as a kit to apply to my Cornwall IVs.

I cut my teeth with DSP bi-amping and tri-amping Fortes, I'm currently using a DSP and 6 mono blocks with a pair of 3-way horns that are not entirely dissimilar from LaScalas and there're really no comparison to a passive x-over for horns. with front radiating speakers, an active crossover doesn't make as much of a difference, but can be useful just the same.

How about that?

Perhaps. But eliminating components between the amps and the drivers has some significant advantages. And DSP offers flexibility, tunability, repeatability, precision, and accuracy that are very difficult to match with passive components.

A truly well designed XO would eliminate the need for using multiple amps and elaborate EQ and DSP.  How about that?  Of course there are  people who  just like tinkering.

I’m not convinced that a passive crossover will adequately manage time and phase alignment, let alone frequency response in a 3-way horn system, not to mention the effect of channel separation that you get when using a separate amp for each driver. A well designed passive crossover can sound pretty good, but it’s no match for a DSP processor with ten bands of parametric eq with linear phase and time alignment. It’s like going from a 2d drawing to a sculptural installation.

We can cite many advantages of active digital crossovers over passive analog crossovers, but ultimately it does not matter to some people. I've encountered more than one person who genuinely prefers the sound of passive crossovers over DSP. Since enjoyment of this hobby is so strongly personal and subjective, I'm not about to challenge their opinions.

I do think some minds will be blown when people start hearing Roy's new LaScala. A few, no doubt, will grouse about the departures from PWK's holy othodoxy, but I expect many will be blown away by how much better the 2" mid horns and DSP are. I've not heard Roy's, but I have built my own 3 way horns with specs more similar to the AK-6 than anything else, so I do have a frame of reference that is germane.
