ALK network for Cornwall design download

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

The Cornwall replacement crossover network is ready and I have updated the

downloadable design file on my web site. If anyone is considering building

it, there have only been a few minor changes. I have made the mounting

board a little larger for example. There is also a good top view picture

that will help with the wiring.

NOTE: This network design is only for Cornwalls that have the K77

tweeter. The Cornwall II uses the K79 tweeter and is NOT compatible

with this design.

Hey folks, I've swapped a few emails with Al, and we need to batch up enough interest in these networks for him to do an initial build.

If you have any interest at all, now's the time. I'm on a waiting list that needs to get a little bigger before he start them up!

Thanks !

I've been living with the "original" ALK Cornwall networks for about 5 months now and I have to tell you they are really something. WOrth every penny.

Just for kicks I put the original X-overs back in over the weekend and was blow away with how HARSH the midrange seemed to me. And the attack of a plucked bass string is just so clean and crisp with Al's networks. I love them--so anyone "on the fence" should jump right now, as these are a real bargain.

They WILL make a difference!

Al's right, he didn't put me up to this, I did it on my own.

In reading through Cornwall threads over the last six months, I know that there are many potential customers for these ... and I'm sure they really are worth the money.

So spread the word. Believe me, Al is doing this as a labor of love ... doing these networks is not going to put a new wing on his house (Al, please correct me if I'm wrong Smile.gif )

Chris,

Your's right. I make enough money form them to make building them worth it, but that's all. Take a look at North Creek Music's upgrade for B&W speakers. They charge nearly 3 times my price for a set! It's my way of seeing to it nobody else will steal my design and undercut my price. They would starve doing it!

Al, just for grins I went looking for a website on them but couldn't find one.

Can you pass along a URL for me to check out?

Thx. Chris

I am on the fence. My Cornwall is still in the garage. It would make a great middle channel for my LaScalas. (I've discussed it in other Cornwall threads.) It is black raw birch, so it would need finishing to meet the WAF. I've also never built an adapter to run the third channel, and, now that I've seen Al's adapter, the bar has been set a little higher.

Hiya Al, Have you ever thought of a similar crossover design for the chorus II's? It's probably a situation where you would have to own each speaker to do a crossover network for them. I wasnt sure if you owned a pair of chorus II's or not. Sounds like your network for the cornwalls is becoming a big hit, congrats.
