myram
My buddy has a pair of Cornwalls and was interested in finding out the age of them and anything else that was available about them from the serial number. Here is the info he sent me - serial # 8517659 Type cbr From what I have read they were made in 1985, but other then that I don't know what the rest of it means. What does the "cbr" stand for? Any other info would also be appreciated. Thanks for any help.
J M O N
Type CBR: The C stands for Cornwall, and I believe the B stands for Birch and the R stands for Raw (i.e. they came in unfinished birch).
myram
And just one more question...... Would they be Cornwall 1's or Cornwall 2's? If the drivers are mounted on the inside they are 1's, and if they are mounted on the outside they are 2's?
Stu Pidass
I believe you are correct. Cornwalls had ther midrange and tweeters mounted from the inside of the cabinet. Also the midrange of Cornwalls are metal while Cornwall 11's are made of plastic. They should be fairly easy to distinguish.
J M O N
1985 would be Cornwall II. It should say on the label where the SN is.
JCturboT
Not always JMON... Most of the Cornwalls I see up to 1986 have the characteristics of the original Cornwalls. The code should say CII(for Cornwall 2)and it should also say Cornwall II on the sticker if it is a model II.Stu is right about the drivers.Myram,is the speaker connection located at the top or the bottom on the rear of the speaker? Colin
some of the Cornwall Is have different drivers than others, yet they are not Cornwall IIs, but something in between, nobody will give you more information aboiut your big old horns than the Belgium shrine: http://www.belgaudio.com/kcmap.htm
