promedia 4.1 system -- no power

i got 4.1 promedia system earlier this summer to go with my new computer. so i get my computer setup in my dorm room, and i can't get power into the speakers at all. well, i don't know if its going into the sub, and i don't have a voltmeter to check it out. right now all i have plugged in to the woofer is the control thingy, but i get no led light. at first i thtought it was because the one prong on the power cable was bent so it wasn't getting power for some odd reason, but i bent it back and i still get nothing. any sugestions?

First of all, there is a dedicated promedia 4.1 section on this forum that would gaurantee you more informative responses.

Second, I own only the 2.1 promedias, but from what I gather it might seem like something is wrong with your power chord? Are all your speakers plugged into your sub? Cause the sub is also the amp, which powers your 4 speakers. All 4 and the control "thingy" should be going into the sub, the control unit should have a phone jack that goes into your computer's headphone (or soundcard) input, and the sub plugs into your wall.

yeah, i think something is wrong with the power cord, but i have no way of checking it (at least that i know of). if it was a detachable power cable it wouldn't be a problem, however, it seems pretty built in. is there any way anybody know that i could test it? oh yeah, and i do have everything plugged in now, just to see if that was the problem, but its not.

and thanks, i wasn't aware of the 4.1 forum, i'll put a copy of this there too.

yeah, power outlet definitey works, i tried it all over the place to make sure. fuse on the sub? i can't get it open to check, if anybody would know how that would be good.

oh yeah, i forgot i did have the speakers working back home. this happened once before, but only for like 4 minutes, i just unplugged everything and put it back in and it was fine.

alright, so i managed to get my subwoofer opened, and i found a loevely resistor just flying around all over the place. i think its a resistor at least. anyways, i have no idea where it goes. i don't think anybody could help me, but if they can, it would be greatly apreciated (i'm assuming somehow that in my 2 hour trip to college it came loose). i can take some pictures of it and the inside of the woofer if anybody would be able to figure out where it goes.

but on the other hand, does anybody know if it is possible to buy just a 4.1 subwoofer? i really don't want to buy another whole system because i already have working speakers (checked them on another klipsch system), and if i do i'll probably go down to a 2.1 to save the money or even a logitech or something of the sort.

well, in my dorm room, i don't exactly have a good place to put the surround. although i would like the 4.1 system at least for when i'm at home. and i can get a fairly decent setup if i were to watch a movie, just that the speaker can't normally sit in the middle of the floor. i was only considering going to 2.1 or logitech (not really what i wanted, i love the klipsch) if i had to buy a completely new system and couldn't just get the sub.
