Bill Shackelford
I have Klipschorn speakers and have built a Home Theater around them as the front channels. They are spaced 18 feet apart with a 65" HDTV inbetween them. I am going to buy a 5CH, 250W RMS per channel power amp. I would like to find a Center Channel speaker that would be a match for the Klipschorns in sensitivity, timbre, power handling, dispersion, and frequency response. Would the Reference Series RC-7 be a good match? Is there another Klipsch speaker that would be more appropriate?
EJH
Academy, if you can find one. The Belle if you have the space. Or like I did, make your own. See "Another DIY Center." Definitely stay with Heritage horns for the best match. Best of luck!
marksdad
the rc 7 is an excellent center but does not quite match for center, if you can try any heritage speaker. i run an lascalla and the presentation is seamless, wonderfull ........... jhawk92
Bill- With Klipschorns, you will be highly disappointed if you go with anything other than another Heritage speaker; Belle, LaScala, Cornwall, or Heresy in a pinch. Timbre matching is very important in HT, and K-horns will demand it. The Reference series won't be a good match, and the Academy, with as good a speaker as it is, will be dwarfed by the K-horn prowess. Depending on the room available, you may want to look at the Cornwall or Heresy, since you have the big HDTV and can't set it on a Belle or LaScala like some here have done. Your best bet may be to mount a Heresy or Cornwall above the TV. Check the archives as there are many people who have done this; there's a great series on a vertical Cornwall currently running. Or look at going with a custom center, as several folks here have done. You could put the horns in an enclosure at the top of your TV and then the bass cabinets below. Again, check the archives and you'll find lots of folks who have done this. Good luck.
