mpgwagon Posted July 4, 2001 Posted July 4, 2001 Can anyone tell me the year of these Heresy's by the serial numbers? S/N-69S394 and 69S395. I was thinking Heresy's for my fronts. How well would they match my SF1 rears, KSW 12 subs(2) and SC1 center. I love my SF1 fronts, Would the Heresy's be a disapointment? myram Posted July 4, 2001 Posted July 4, 2001 I'm gonna guess that they were made in 1969, from the first 2 numbers of the serial number....but maybe someone else can confirm this. Most speakers are aged by the first 2 numbers, and some are coded with a single letter. The Heresy's are gonna blow away the SF1's, so they aren't going to be a disappointment at all. The only thing you might have to change is your center channel, the SC-1 isn't going to be able to keep up with the Heresy's and also it won't really match the tone either. A better one would be a single Heresy, or a KLF-C7 or RC3, or even a KV3 or KV4.....it's really a size and judgement call. JohnA Posted July 4, 2001 Posted July 4, 2001 You're looking at a Heritage speaker with a letter code for the date. If I'm not in error, S = 1977. That should be a good year for Heresies. John Quote
boa12 Posted July 4, 2001 Posted July 4, 2001 yea like john says for year & 69 would be the 69th day of '77. keep losing that letter-year conversion key. i believe they went to all numbers in '84. then the next numbers were week#. or maybe it was in '83. oh well the evolution of klipsch serial #s. myram Posted July 4, 2001 Posted July 4, 2001 I'm glad I only guessed......cause I stand corrected. Those letters and number combinations always throw me for a loop.....but I keep trying to remember how it goes. ------------------ Home Theater System: Klipsch Quartets - mains for both systems Klipsch KV3 - center Klipsch KG.5's - rear surrounds Klipsch KSW12 subwoofer Denon AVR-1601 JVC 36D201 36" TV JVC HR-S3600 SVHS Player JVC XV-M565BK DVD Player Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2100 Digital Cable box Music System: Adcom GFA-555 Musical Concepts Modified NAD 1600 Pre/Tuner Sony C-67ES CD Player Playstation 2 Monster Power HTS-2000 MIT Speaker Cable RS Gold Interconnects Monster S-Video and Component Cables Quote

KenWH Posted July 5, 2001 Posted July 5, 2001 As I posted in tech. questions my brother-in-law just got a pair of ash finish Khorns from an estate auction. We're trying to figure out the vintage of these. Here is what the original owner put down in the owner manuals for model and serial #'s: Model #: KBASL Serial #'s: 125643 125644 I looked at Doug's key but I guess it's too early in the morning for me to figure out. Are the above numbers even correct for KHorns. The "5" in the middle might be an "S". If not I guess we'll have to snoop around the back of the Huge Monsters to find the correct numbers. Thanks, Ken ------------------ If it sounds good, keep tweakin'...if it sounds great, time for an upgrade. Quote

Steve Phillips Posted July 5, 2001 Posted July 5, 2001 The 5 being an"S" would make since,My K-Horns are 10R380,381,makes them '77's.Numbers aren't right for it to be"5". By the way,the SC-1 should do OK with the Heresy's as far as level goes. The SC-1 is rated at 95 and the Heresy is 96. I have a SC-1 in my bedroom HT and sometimes use it with my Heresy II's.The II's are mainly for music,as I have KSB 2.1's for the HT part.Tonaly it's not a bad match, the Heresy's sound so much better than the 2.1's,but another Heresy would be perfict.
