richieb Posted April 13, 2004 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Picking up 1976 WO Cornwalls this weekend, finally. Stepping up from Forte. Question - on the attached photo you can see a small area of discoloration on the woofer. Is this something of concern. The seller has been very upfront but has not had time to answer my question as to what this may be. Could it be a natural occurence over the years. Photo of the other speaker looks perfect. greg928gts Posted April 13, 2004 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Could have happened when the front of the speaker was cleaned, the rag hit across the bottom of the bass driver. See if it feels any different, loose from the surround or anything unusual like that. I don't think I'd worry about it too much. mark1101 Posted April 14, 2004 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Doesn't look like a stain to me, but a shadow of the upper part of the woofer area of the motorboard from some overhead lighting or reflection of the flash. If that is the only thing on those speakers buy them and enjoy them for about fifty years. By then you might be ready for something new. I go to the lowley NASCAR Cup races in New Hampshire every year. Again the sights, the sounds, the smell of 43 finely tuned sweet gas engines, and a little rubber!! In blind listening tests, there is absolutely no difference between the two speakers.
