Selling via forums: payment?

Hi all, I've got a few sales going on through the forums right now. What is the customary way to exchange payment? For example, does the seller send the items at the same time as payment? Wait for the check to clear? I want to be fair to myself and the buyers.

If I sell a record to someone here I usually send the record out and let the buyer check it out and only if they decide to keep it do I ask them to send the money. If they return it to me I ask that they include a check or cash to cover my initial shipping expenses.

I NEVER DO THIS WITH AN EBAY AUCTION!

Postal m.o. is good, check after it clears(keep record so you can call bank and ask)paypal has always been good for me too. When you have been paid(money available to you)pack well, send item insured promptly.I gotta say I have been lucky and have dealt w/good people all across the country.

Typically, the safest approach for both parties is to use a secure payment method like PayPal, where the buyer can send the payment first and then you can ship the items. This ensures protection for both the seller and the buyer. Waiting for the check to clear can add unnecessary delays, and it's always best to prioritize security and efficiency in transactions.
