EarlyGrayce
I have purchased a pair of SCR-2 for my rear surrounds. Does 50 watts max mean that I have to have 50 watts or less or do you go by the peak.
DLUngurait
50 watts maximum CONTINOUS 200 watts PEAK These are max loads...DEFINATELY NOT minimum. Most (if not all) Klipsch speakers will play VERY loud w/very little power. Doubt you could stay in the room w/ anything approaching 50 watts continous running through those new rear speakers of yours
EarlyGrayce
I need to clarify my question, I was in a hurry when I sent the original post and did not realize how vague it was. I am worried about the SCR-2 not being able to handle the wattage my receiver is 100 watts per channel.
PhilH
EarlyGrayce: Most of the time, you will be using a lot less than 50 wpc of your 100 wpc receiver. The SCR-2's will handle the higher wattage peaks well. As long as you don't crank the receiver volume into very high levels where the amplifier starts to clip, you will be OK. I would recommend going into your receiver's speaker configuration settings and set your surrounds to the "small" setting if you already haven't done so. That should keep you from having distorted bass in the rears during peaks (such as movie explosions, etc.). PhilH
EarlyGrayce
Thanks for the info Phil, I installed the SCR-2's for my rear surrounds and the sound great.
