Edklipsch
Is it possible to have a damaged horn but don't sound distorted? One of my 30's just don't sound the same no more. It's like there is no midbass, just screaming vocals and lower bass. Unless its my hearing. Used to love em cranked, but now I can't stand the sound. I've used each channel in my 5 channel amp, no difference, even switched pre-outs. Don't know if my local shop has the new line yet, but maybe I'll go look at them. Guess I'll need to try and sell my 30/20/C7. Can imagine I'll probably get next to nothing trying to sell. Ed
HornEd
Hey, not so fast... let's put our "Eds" together and call 1-800-Klipsch and ask for Trey Cannon. But, first, take the grille off the offending KLF 30 and look into the mid horn... chances are the driver may have come off the back of the mid-range horn. If so, the fix is rather easy... and even if you need a re-cone job... fixing them up is far less costly than selling them for way below their value. Trey will steer you right. Edklipsch
Called Klipsch, said to remove horn(s). Nothing rattling on mid, except that it is screwed in cockeyed. Tweeter magnet jiggles. Suppose it needs to be replaced. Will call them back. Thanks
HornEd
Ed, that's Teflon tape on the threads of the mid-horn... just like the plumbing shop variety. Unscrew the driver and screw it on evenly. You might even want to swap drivers between your 30's and see if the problem follows the driver. Again, even buying a new driver is better than dumping your rig. Happy Hunting... and ask for Trey... you may have to wait on line a bit... but he is "Aces" in puzzling Klipsch places.
