seti Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I remember seeing one of this in a flee market in Stephenville, Texas before I knew what it was. It had a big scratch across the front and I thought $200 was a bit much for a big tacky speaker cabinet. I can still remember almost barfing when I saw one online and what it sold for. Quote

dubai2000 Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 Not too long ago I had the chance to listen briefly to a Paragon clone. The owner had got himself a copy of the original plans, collected the vintage horns, drivers, crossovers and started putting it all together. Unfortunately he didn't have a proper source (just a MiniDisc player of all things and some less than stellar tube amps) so the listening experience doesn't count for much. I really liked the 'cool' look of the speaker (it being really unique IMO) but the sound was something else: not very balanced, mids were rather 'hot' and not much of a believable soundstage. Still, I guess being part of a proper setup they would certainly be an interesting 'toy'. I am just not sure that those insane ebay prices are justified. Wolfram Quote
fini Posted September 19, 2004 Author Posted September 19, 2004 Nice cocktail party speaker. Lots of room for hors d'oeuvres! Quote
