dtximages
I just installed my new ev t35 diaphrams for my K77 la scala tweeters and have very low output! All I can really hear are the mids. I soldered them on pretty good and tight. Could that be the problem? I dont think that could be the prob b/c they still fit good in the inset. What should I do? Anyone else had much experience with the T35? Thanks Chris
Randy Bey
I don't know anything about this but have you got any output at all? If not, do check to see if you can move the diaphragm. Double check your electrical connections. Good luck and keep us posted!
dtximages
Yes I do have output. It is very low in both speakers. Not loud enough to keep up with the mid horns. They are dead. Does solder deaden the signal any? I used quite a bit to secure the copper tabs and also soldered some female ends on the + and - contacts but it should be a very good signal shouldnt it? They shouldnt need breaking in that bad should they?
John Warren
put an ohm meter across the terminals. what is the value you measure?
dtximages
Where do I find one of those ohm meters?
John Warren
Chris, Radio Shack would be a place to start. If you are going to DIY speaker repair, it is an essential tool. John
dtximages
Question: I did use quite a bit of solder on the copper tabs and on the contacts. Could this cause a rise in impedence? It is radio shack solder with silver in it so I figured it would be good enought not to make that much difference. Thanks Chris
johnnyp
Chris, I use the radio shack solder too. The solder container says it has 4% silver. I believe you may have pulled the diaphragm leads too tight before you soldered them. This can restrict free movement of the diaphragm. It happened to me years ago when I soldered a new diaphragm on a mid-range driver. You may want to attempt to resolder leaving a little slack in the diaphragm leads between the soldering posts and the voice coil. Let us know what happens. dtximages
Im thinking the same thing about pulling them too tight. Ill have to do some experimenting. Thanks. BYW, isnt the T35 the same diaphram that is in my K77?
