Just found this UBB so I thought I'd join take part. I'm a Network Administrator for a dot.com company and a music lover. I listen to a lot of things, but I listen to a lot of instrumental guitar and progressive rock, as well as some other things. My collection includes a lot of Rush, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Dream Theater, along with Sting, The Police, Melanie Doan, REM, and Ozric Tentacles. So, anyway, Hi !! biggrin.gif

I received my V2s earlier this week. I got luckly and caught what was an error on a web site and managed to score my set for $100 plus shipping. (It took me 2 hours of phone calls to get them to honor the price, but in the end they did).

So far, I've been quite impressed. I had a set of Altec Lansings with a sub at work, and a set of Cambridge PCWorks Four Point Surrounds here at home.

The bass is definitely there with these. biggrin.gif In fact, so much that I can't use them at the office. frown.gif If I keep the volume at 1/4 or less, and turn the sub setting to 1/4 or less, then the guy in the office next to me cannot hear or feel them. So much for that idea. Secondly, the satellites are very very bright. I started with some older Police and the cymbals sizzled quite nicely, almost to the point of being too harsh. I'm going to give myself a couple of weeks to get acclimated to the sound and see if that goes away.

The speaker construction and packaging was top notch. The metal stands are a nice change. There is more than enough speaker wire included to make attaching the satellites an easy task.

I ordered the new CP-1 the other day to take care of the lack of headphone and extra input jacks. I think that it would have been nice to have it included in the units for the price that they normally run, but considering I got a steal on the speakers in the first place, I can't complain a lot I guess wink.gif

Not having received the CP-1 yet, I'm not sure if this issue will be addressed or not. I wish that the cables that run between the pre-amp and the sound card were longer. Both my work and home office desks are arranged so that my monitor is in a corner, and my PC is off to my left side. If I didn't have some grommets going through my desktop already, I would not have been able to make the preamp reach my computer without detaching it from the satellite and setting it on my computer.

All in all, I'm quite pleased with the speakers, and because of this, I'll be looking at Klipsch when I get ready to replace my home theater speakers sometime this summer.

At least you are letting yourself get acclimated to them. From what I have gathered, it is like a new pair of glasses, ya need to give them time to get used to them as for the Pros, sure, your ears may bleed a little, but after all that, you should like them

I can hardly wait to get a set

Paragon, how can you stand it? How can you stand being a reg on this board and not own a set of these things? If I had to post to this board every day and not own a set of these, I would either: a) Go crazy

or B) Steal a friend's set

How do you handle it? smile.gif

You must have excellent self-control. smile.gif

Don't really have to post, I just like to. Doesn't really bother me not having a set of Pros, I guess I do have control, but knowing that I will be getting a set soon helps. Also, it's not like I thnk about the Pros all day long plus being in college helps to take my mind off things.

When times get tough, I just close my eyes and use my imagination. I already have Pros, but YOU can't see them, only me.

I have enough friends with what I consider high end speaker setups (ProAc, Thiel, etc) to have picked up on that most speakers need at least 50 hours of break in time before they sound like they are supposed to. I'm assuming that the V.2s are the same way. I'm also hoping that the brassiness I'm hearing will go away within that time as well.

I'm also looking forward to getting my CP-1 as the controls on the standard pod feel like they are going to come off in my hand.
