Here is the very first matching, built at the same time set of VRD's and NBS preamplifier burning in..... this is my living room system which I use Tannoy System 15 DMT studio monitors that use the gold drivers... not Klipsch but what they do they do very well!

Very nice setup. Is that walnut?

Kaiser is your turntable hanging from the ceiling, if so how did you go about it. I have just moved my table from the rack to a wall mount to the fact of flimsy floorboards, that every time I walked around I had to tip toe. Now I can jump up and down next to my shelf mounted table and nothing happens. But since I have Fortes that load up the bass in the walls this is no good at higher levels, great at low levels great detail. But some times I would like to crank it up, so I think the next mounting location is from the ceiling.

Nice looking room by the way I would love to have a attic room.

duder

My apologies for never adresing this for you Duder, must have missed it[:$]

I used one of the old shelfs from my walll mount rack in my last places sun room. This I spent $54.00 bucks on all the hardware to hang my table from that gabled roof. Pretty sure it would solve your bass vibration problem because my WT Amadeus is dead quite on this shelf[;)] Here's a pic showing the hardware. all from home depot.

Funny I tried this in my basement not a good place for it. All so the cables I used were 1/4" diameter a little more cable then needed. But since then I have sold the Fortes and moved my Heresies back to that room. Now the record player rack will be removed for a tv for my wife to watch youtube videos since its now her craft room. But at least she still needs audio in that room and I have a place for another system[:)]

Funny Bruce, I actually do hear them scurrying across the shingles all the time but they don't have the weight to rattle my cables. That's very close to 63lbs hanging there. The WT weighs 51lbs by itself!

My Klipschorns do not vibrate in a way that I find it affects the sound..

Very nice... details?

Someone once told me it was bad go put amps in vibration areas... is that not the case?

McIntosh MEN220 used as the bass XO, Bass Horn alignment and Room Correction.

The MID/HF has a set of custom ALK XOs

The amps are driven stereo, bi amped horizontally. i.e. right amp powers bass and HF/MIDs where the HF/MID is attenuated and delayed using the MEN220.

Basically, it kicks ***.

Large speakers like Khorns, Bells and some subs, ect., I don't see why an amp would be bad sitting on top of it. In theory vibration and solder joint damage don't make a true difference in the majority of cases. I have my sub amp on top of the sub.

Good point. Most, if not all, powered subs have their amps attached to the back wall of the sub's cabinet.

Yes, but the point that the poster was making speficially mentions "Tubes" and the theory is.. if I walk up and flick one with nothing playing, I would hear it's "microphonic" distorion. I say, "There are better things in life to worry about."

They only thing better than what I have would be a set of Jubilees with a furniture grade finish.

It's not about solder joint damage. It's about vibrations, even small ones, negatively affecting the sound. Unless you are an "objectivist" who doesn't believe in that sort of thing. If so, carry on........

Subjectivist would believe in the "Vibrations, man.." :-D

Objectivist would believe that the vibrations exist and they affect the sound by a factor of "n"

Very nice, sleek and elegant. I would love to hear the VRD's and the NBS preamp!!!!

I'll plan to start a road show with the NBS #2 prototype at some point later this year. If you want to be first on the list then send me an email and I will start the folder. But please be patient I'm busy as all get out and can not start the road show until I can actually build myself a final production unit to take the place of the NBS #2 prototype in my own personal system. The #2 proto type is electrically and layout identical to the actual production unit so the comparison for sonic benefit is absolutely identical. I figure this way I won't be cringing as a $2500 preamps is bouncing around all over the country. VRD's are a known commodity and very susceptible to damage during shipping especially if folks do not pack them as originally designed because of the weight/wood factor so they will most likely never be on a road show.

Alright, this is awesome-NOT!! Couldn't wait any longer to hook up the Kenwood KA-7100, so, found some mismatched-as in very old-speaker wire, hooked up the $15 Denon 1940ci Universal player, and my RB51's. Didn't want to drag out the Heresys or unhook everything from the Cornwall II. But, not too terribly bad.
