TheEAR
Poor you ONLY KLF20's LOL The KLF20's are more then anybody would EVER need, well since you have a choice here I would go with the KLF30's!WHY NOT? Heck you may as well order a KLF30C(C for center)LOL This should be VERY dynamic, with the right amplification this speaker setup will defeat any theater in quality and output! No bad at all. Now poor me with the RF-5's as rears TheEAR(s) Now theears
ColaBear
Definitely go with the 30s. Direct radiating speakers are the best way to go if you have adequate room to set them up. I currently use a Denon AVR5800 and have no problems. ------------------ KLF-30 mains KLF-C7 center KLF-30 side surrounds KG 3.5 rear surrounds KSW200 subwoofer Denon AVR5800 Pioneer Elite DV-09 Pioneer Elite PD-F19 RCA DTC100 DSS/HDTV Sony Playstation 2 Denon MD1000 Vidikron Epoch D-600 Vutec 100" 4:3 1.5 gain

T2K
JTS8, the secret lies in Colabear's response, "ADEQUATE ROOM". Keith After thinking about it a little more,I guess I don't really need the KSF8.5's.As I type this my elbow keeps hitting a KG5.5 that I don't need either.I'm just a girl that can't say no. :^) ------------------ KSP-300 FL/R KSP-C6 CENTER SW8II C/SUB KSP-S6 SURR KSP300 SB SW12II SONY KP53XBR35 RP DENON 3801 DENON DVD3300 DVD-AUDIO SONY MDP455 LDP ACURUS 125X5 ACURUS 100X3 MONDIAL M.A.G.I.C. TheEAR
JTS8 I did read many posts here before posting(reposting I would say)and I can see and hear HornEd's system here.LOL Its nice to have a HUGE room and the space to fit all KLF30's.I would like to have so much space. Its unfortunate I only have a 10 x 14 room! And even now its as full as an egg.I just made some space for the upcoming RF-7's! M6 Driver
Our room pending is 23ft by 13?ft above the garage that's one plan and the other is more in the lines of 20ft by 30ft built off the west wing so we'll go from there! and when the time comes I plan to post the build up of the theater. T2K
While we're on the subject of the Legend speakers,I'm wondering if anyone may have ever noticed how these speakers may sometimes sound "harsh"? at loud volumes, but if you were to slowly back away from them the upper end seems to smooth out and better blend with the lows? Just wondering. Keith
boa12
keith & friends, jmo, 1 cent, whatever, but i would call my 30s loud, but not harsh. especially w/ the smooth amps of the marantz & now the acurus 200five power amp. i think because they're so efficient (102db) they may more so reveal brightness or harshness in the amps, preamps and/or source components or material. some have said even cornwalls sound too harsh think thats why it's so important to get the right stuff to connect to them. otherwise, guess one could always try some eq or other methods like room damping if they find them harsh. oh & there's always the listener. i think my high freq hearing has been damped itself from all the loud concerts & home listening over the years. & there're always those personal preferences. & those can even change & adapt. guess the rule to 1st listen to 'em w/ the equipment u'll be using still applies here. but i chose the 30s because i like their sound including the highs. i like loud & i like slam. the 30s have that & I accept them as they are. ------------------ Klipsch KLF 30 (front) 2-KLF C7 (front center & rear center) Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-18 sub woofer Marantz SR-8000 receiver Acurus A200X5 power amp Sony DVP-C650D 5-disk cd/dvd player Sony Trinitron 27" stereo tv Toshiba hi-fi stereo vcr Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2100 digital cable box Monster HTS2500 & HTS1000 powercenters Boa's Listenin Lounge: Klipsch RF-3, RC-3 Sony STR-DE935 a/v receiver Kenwood KR-9600 AM/FM stereo receiver (vintage 1975) Russound AB-2 receiver switch to RF-3 Teac PD-D1200 5-disk cd changer Technics SL-1950 turntable/AT LS500 cartridge Technics dual cassette deck rock on! T2K
I hear you boa.Maybe "harsh" was too harsh a word to use. What I was offering is the fact that with large speakers you need to get away from the speakers to get a more balanced sound.A few comments have been made in the past about "brightness" or "harshness" of these speakers and I was wondering if perhaps people are using them in too small a space.Otherwise they are hard to beat IMO.I wish I had a couple pair of 30's for 4-cornered stereo.I wish I had a 20'X 40' room first though. Being the wondering type,I wonder what others opinions are regarding the posibility that some "warmth" may possibly be simple distortion. Its been a slow day!
