oscarsear
Looking for feedback on the Sierra Brooks line of spherical tractix wood horns. They're an Italian firm making product in wood and fiberglass out of the Phillipines. Been around for quite some time but you don't hear a lot about them, which is curious. Anyone here have any direct experience with them or their horns?
TBrennan
Here's a rig I heard a few years ago using SB upper bass and treble horns, the system sounded pretty good though it was a little bit screechy. This was Magnetar's rig for about a week. ;-) I suppose that most folks who want "saladbowl" type tractrix horns are buying them from Bruce Edgar. There's a fella named John Hasquin in Ohio who makes saladbowls, Romy is keen on John's work and uses his horns.
Deang
Is there some point to bouncing the midrange off the floor?
TBrennan
Dean------The big horn only ran up to 500hz or so, after that a TAD 4001 on the smaller horn took over and ran the rest of the way up.
sfogg
Dean, "Is there some point to bouncing the midrange off the floor? " Keeping low frequency sources near the floor can help reduce the Allison effect on the FR of the driver. Shawn
Cornwalled
Question: What is the Allison effect? I've never heard that term used before. -Jon
