Help us out. Give more details about what you have in mind...

What kind of bass do you want to test?

Orchestra concert bass?

Church organ pedal bass?

Upright bass?

Electric 4 string bass?

Electric 5 and 6 string bass?

Synthesizer bass?

Rap boom boom bass?

Homemade test bass with an audio frequency ocillator?

Home theater one note rumble boom bass?

What is the purpose of this test?

Check neighbor's tolerance?

Test local police response?

Drive rodents out of attic?

See the highest volume before the walls and furniture start shaking?

Provide an excuse to damage and upgrade woofers?

I'm half serious...

Paul

Celldweller

It is by far the most intense bass tester for any system...I think they

have only one album, but if not then I'll have to go look it up for you

(I can't remember the names off the top of my head).

Another great CD is Nightwish's Once album. Check out the LF content

for Romanticide (my program only goes down to 20Hz, but you can see

that there's a lot of info well below that. It is relatively quieter

than the rest of the spectrum, but you can definetly hear it when your

system is capable).

Even though I grew up with Kraftwerk @ parties etc I always got the

impression they were somewhat of a joke gimmick band. However I still

like some of their tunes.

For percusion that hits low I would listen to The Creatures Hai! featuring Taiko rhythms of ex-Kodo drum master, Leonard Eto.

off one another like stark waves reverberating against a vast shoreline."

Well I was kinda unclear, sorry. I was thinking stong bass in the lower 50hz. I am putting a Cd together to test diy sub's and so forth. I would like music and not test tones, anything with solid clean bass throughout. NO RAP!

The purpose, again to test subs, but also to piss off the parents my shaking the whole house, and saying bye to the rodents wouldn't be too bad either, although I don't think we have any.

"Test Local police response?"

Omg i almost died when I read that, thanks so much!

Yes incubus like i earlier mentioned has good bass, with good music. Morning View is the album. I use it to test my system. It sounds wonderful. Kraftwerk also has good solid bass, but not much vocals, but it will test ur subwoofer, no doubt about that. Rick springfield's newest cd is pretty good.

Jump Into the Fire by Harry Nilsson on the Nilsson Schmilsson album.

Great bass line all through the song, except during the drum solo (which by itself is a great test for any system).

And then at the end of the drum solo the bass line comes rolling and rumbling back in.

Best... Bass line... Ever.

Nilsson Schmilsson

crazytubepower, There are many songs with a bass line but here are a couple that I like for sub testing.

Madonna (Frozen) The song has many highs as well, but the bass tone is very low and lasts a long time.

Pink Floyd (Time) Great heartbeat sounds in the beginning, but be careful of the bells that soon follow. The rest of the song has great bass chords throughout.

Queen (Dragon Attack) Very strong bass guitar through the entire song.

(Crazy Little thing Called Love) Another great bass guitar song.

Jimmy Hendrix (Fire) Very nice bass guitar through the entire song, especially the beginning.

I stuck with rock songs but there are others with great bass too. I can never remember how to spell it correctly, or who wrote it, but a classical piece named (Tocotta en Feuge) has some SUPER great bass, especially if you get the live version played on the HUGE pipe organ. This ventures into the 16HZ region and I am sorry about the vagueness of who plays it and what recording it is on...but I just do not remember.

Not sure of what DMP does DSD means but perhaps he is refering to the KODO Heartbeat Drummers of Japan recording from Sheffield Labs . Gotta love any CD with a dynamic range warning ! [li]
