rplace Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 JB, I thought that was a Clapton song a couple of day ago...but never came up with the title. Quote
jacksonbart Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Here is the verse before the one I posted. Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you? Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back? Id gladly do it becauseI dont want to fade away.Give me one more day, please.I dont want to fade away.In your heart I want to stay. Quote
meagain Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 I want to know definitively what exactly classic rock means to you before I attempt to play again. To me it's: Stones, Springsteen, Clapton type. Please define 'classic' and 'rock'. Quote
jacksonbart Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Ok last hint, the song title contains the name of the style of pants, typically jeans often worn during the 70s and briefly tried to make a comeback, were the lower calf to ankle part of the pant legs flaired out. Quote

Please define 'classic' and 'rock'. Meagain, IMO, I think your dead on about classic rock, Stones, Springsteen, Clapton, Dylan, Led Zep, Allman Brothers, Neil Young, etc. If you think your straying just don't pick an obscure song and if you do, it really does not matter, just have fun and prepare to take some guff all in a good natured way. You can't go wrong, you would just stump the chumps. Quote
theryugobuddy Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 The definition of Classic Rock on this thread has been given a very wide berth-- those bands are definitely it, but Talking Heads, Zappa, Pearl Jam, Aldo Nova and even some classical sheet music have been here as challenges (please no more sheet music!), even if they don't fit the mold of a Bad Company or Zep-- for either their era or style. Its just no fun if everyone is stumped after a few days-- if its recognizeable to others, its a good challenge-- Those lyrics are EC's -- Bell Bottom Blues--my fave of him-- How about this: Dancin' in the aisles and singin' out loud yeah yeahHere come the dancers 1 by 1 your mamas callin' but your havin' funYou find your dancin' on the number 9 cloudPut your head together and sing it out loud Quote
meagain Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Bad Co. - Rock n' Roll Fantasy? Under blue moon I saw youSo soon you`ll take meUp in your armsToo late to beg you or cancel itThough I know it must be the killing timeUnwillingly mineFateUp against your willThrough the thick and thinHe will wait untilYou give yourself to him Quote
meagain Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Sigh - This was played ad nauseum back in the day and is STILL found on the radio today. It's an easy one. Unless you're one of those types that stopped listening to new music before this came out and are stuck in a time-warp. I have an internet friend like that. Same age as me. I'm heading out to a concert. Good luck. Quote
theryugobuddy Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 The lyrics look like it could be "Don't Fear the Reaper" I'll check-- Nope-- Quote
rplace Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Killing moon or The Killing Moon - Echo and the Bunnymen That sort of music is perfect by me, Meagain. Let's get a few of these "Classic Alternative" things going. First I'm gonna make it Then I'm gonna break it Till it falls apart Hating all the faking And shaking while I'm breaking Your brittle heart I'll give you a hint already. It is not Springsteen or Zeppelin [] Quote
meagain Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Bunnymen again - Bring on the Dancing Horses. One thing I do know... I know Bunnymen stuff. Quote
meagain Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Another 'all over the radio' song. Easy peasy. This one's for SteelerFan. We move like cagey tigers We couldn't get closer than this The way we walk The way we talk The way we stalk The way we kiss We slip through the streets While everyone sleeps Getting bigger and sleeker And wider and brighter We bite and scratch and scream all night Let's go and Throw all the songs we know ........ Quote
meagain Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Ok - it has to do with what SteelerFan just got on his thread on this page. Quote
Bill Cain Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Ok - it has to do with what SteelerFan just got on his thread on this page. Re: O/T Looks like I'm getting a cat If one of you guys plans to send me the picture on the dead one on the highway with the "free cat" sign on it don't bother, I've already seen it. My sister has a kitten someone gave her and I kind of fell in love with it.[] I've always thought of cats as kind of "standoffish" but this one is very friendly and actually crawled up into my lap and went to sleep. Anyway this will be my first one so I'm looking for any pointers from any cat lovers out there. Dead (Skunk) Cat by Loudon Wainright? (just kidding) Quote
oldtimer Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 The Cure. Robert Smith had a cameo on the South Park "MechaStreisand" episode. Somebody name the tune. Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Hey all! It's been a bit since I've been around. Looks like it's time for a new challenge. Try this: "I can hear windmills and rainbowsWhenever you're talkin to meI feel like swirling and dancingWhenever you're walking with me" Name that Tune! Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 The stumper! Stump-a-roni, stump-stump-stump-aroo! Okay, this band is definitely classic rock. In fact, so classic, that it had to change its name to catch up with the Space Age. Quote
rplace Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Sound like J. Airplane to Starship...but I don't know the song. Not a big fan so no suprise there. Quote
Jeff Matthews Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Ding-Ding! Correct on the band. It's a "Wonder" you got it right. Now, go to your Thesaurus. Quote
Lostinozz Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Not a big fan either but I believe it's Miracles. If that's correct, here's the next challange: He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville.Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugsand prays that he always will. But he's the last of the blue blood greaser boysall of his mates are doing time: Name that tune!
